Freedom Skate Park

The Freedom Skate Park in Ghana founded by Sandy Alibo (also founder of Surf Ghana), has become a symbol of artistic expression and creativity for young people in the country. However, the park is currently under attack by construction workers, threatening to destroy the artistic hub that has become so important to the local community.

The Freedom Skate Park, located in Accra, was inaugurated in 2021 by a group of local artists and skaters and since has been visited by The Vice President of the United States of America Kamal Harris, Chance the Rapper, Kendrick Lamar and several other international organizations that have recognized the importance of the artistic space. It has since become a vibrant and dynamic space for young people to come together, express themselves, and engage in a positive and constructive way.

Unfortunately, due to a land dispute, the park is now being destroyed by construction workers who have already begun to demolish some of the park’s structures and equipment, leaving the artists and skaters who rely on the space devastated.

Freedom Skate Park

The Freedom Skate Park is not only a valuable space for young people to express themselves, but it is also an important cultural institution that has helped to put Ghana on the map as a hub for artistic creativity.

Surf Ghana is calling on support from creatives and all interested parties to support and find a peaceful resolution to resolve the dispute.
